Foundations of Dual Language Immersion Education

The Immersion SIG is excited to announce the first webinar sponsored by the Dual Immersion SIG.  Professors Dr. Maria Spicer-Escalante, Jaime Leite and Ofelia G. Wade will be presenting a 2-hour webinar on the Foundations of Dual Language Immersion Education on Monday, November 3 at 1:00pm MST.  Pre-registration by Friday, Oct. 31 is required as described in detail below in this message.
 
This webinar provides a historical, theoretical and practical overview of Dual Language Immersion Education.  The presenters use four central themes to provide a comprehensive framework for organizing knowledge, skills and resources critical for the success of the prospective immersion teacher in the classroom. The presenters will (1) discuss the theoretical and research underpinnings of dual language immersion, (2) describe and analyze the program models, (3) explore the teaching and learning issues in the dual language immersion classroom (4) identify the challenges of program implementation and discuss options for responding to the challenges.
